Indicative Matters

  • Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL): Represented MMRCL in a Writ Petition and a group of PILs. The Writ Petition challenged the construction of the Metro for being in breach of the fundamental right of religion of a particular community and the PILs challenged the construction on aspects of cutting down trees.
     

  • BPCL: Represented BPCL in a group of Writ Petitions challenging a pan-India circular issued by BPCL regulating LPG distribution on the ground of violation of the right to equality and freedom of carrying out business/profession.
     

  • MbPA: Represented MbPA in a group of Writ Petitions challenging the constitutionality of its General Bye-Laws and in a PIL related to the framing of pollution control norms.
     

  • LIC: Represented LIC in a Writ Petition challenging the power of the Election Commission in requisitioning staff of LIC for election duties under the Representation of People’s Act.
     

  • Directors of one of India's largest manufacturers of SAW Pipes: Represented a personal guarantor (a family member of the director) in a Writ Petition challenging look-out circulars issued against him; representing whole-time directors, independent directors, women executive directors in Writ Petitions filed challenging the banks’ orders declaring them as ‘wilful defaulters’.
     

  • SEBI: Representing the regulator in Writ Petitions challenging the orders passed by Central Information Commission under two appeals filed by an applicant/appellant under Right to Information Act, 2005, directing disclosures of certain information qua stock exchanges held by SEBI in fiduciary capacity; successfully obtained stay on the operation of the impugned orders during the first hearing.
